Vastu Shastra is the Indian version of Feng Shui. This is an art of interior design that originated thousands of years ago. It was originated from one of the most famous and oldest of Vedas - The Atharva Veda.

According to the ancient Indian concepts, the world / universe is created by the five elements. EARTH (Bhumi), WATER (Jala), AIR (Vayu), FIRE (Agni), SPACE (Aakasha). All these five elements are closely related to each other.
The balance of these five elements is necessary for bringing balance / harmony in our lives / family. "Vastu" includes all the places of dwelling, furniture, vehicles, etc.

The calculations and assumptions are made on the direction of our home, and different rooms. For example, the Northeast direction is related to - Religion, Luck and Faith - so, the Puja Room (Room for prayer) must be placed here. It also, describes the placing of furniture, just like the Feng Shui.

MB Free Vastu Shastra is a very good program for designing a new home / checking whether it is compatible or follows the Vastu Shastra conditions.
We can draw the plan of our home and just click "Vastu Shastra Result" and it will generate a report describing all the rooms, whether it is placed in the right place, whether any change is needed, etc. The program is very small. But the interface and editing styles are not good.

Vastu Shatra has been followed by Indians before thousands of years. Still now almost all buildings (at least houses for living) are made by following its rules.
